“The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine.”
The Early Life of Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in Smiljan, Lika which is a region in Croatia. An inventor at heart, it is said he seemed to always have a fascination about how the world works. One of his earliest inspirations to strive for innovation was his mother Djuka, who was also an inventor and a patent owner of household appliances. As a student in the year 1873, Nikola Tesla studied in the town Realschule, Karlstadt, at the Polytechnic Institute in Graz and the University of Praque.
The Inventor
At first Tesla intended on specializing in physics and mathematics, but soon realized that he was extremely fascinated with the study of electricity. In 1882, Nikola Tesla’s theories of the rotating magnetic field proven, which made it a fundamental principle in physic electrical systems, and is considered being the basics of nearly all devices that use alternating current. Nikola Tesla developed many Poly-phase Alternating Current Systems of generators, motors, and transformers and held 40 basic patents on the systems. Among his discoveries are the fluorescent light, laser beams, wireless communication, wireless transmission of electrical energy, remote control, robotics, and Nikola Tesla’s turbine and vertical aeronautical apparatus aircraft. The Tesla Coil is an invention that some interpret as it being a electrical transformer for its properties to turn a low input voltage into a tremendous output voltage and it also has low current, and a high frequency of oscillation. Tesla coils were used to conduct experimental innovation that society use today like x-ray generation, electrotherapy, and the transmission of electrical energy without the need of wires. Tesla Coils are found in various common objects today such as "pole pigs" which are found on electric lines, or also found in radios and television sets.
